For my last blog post I will cover Louis Sachar’s biography. Sachar was born on March 20, 1954 in East Meadow, New York. At the age of nine he moved to California with his family. In high school he turned interested in reading. The authors that inspired him were Salinger and Vonnegut, but his favorite writers were Doctorow, Atwood, White, Price and Ishiguro. He went to Ohio for college for a semester, because his father died, he returned to California to be with his mother. He majored in Economics at the University of California at Berkley. He passed the bar exam in 1980, he worked part-time legal work and wrote children’s books. If Sachar did not find books that interested him he could have been dealing with peoples legal problems. He is married and lives in Austin, Texas with his wife and daughter. He writes books in still, but he writes in secret no one can read or see his writings until they are finished.
